Signs and Wonders

Many believers are sensing that there will be a significant increase in signs and wonders over the next year and I can certainly confirm that. I love it when Holy Spirit manifests the love of Jesus through the miraculous and have seen repentance, salvation, deliverance, healing, and recommitment whenever this happens.

Heb 2:3-4: This salvation, which was first announced by the Lord, was confirmed to us by those who heard him. God also testified to it by signs, wonders and various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will.

However, sadly, over the years, I have also seen the damage that ‘hype’, deception and counterfeiting of gifts has done to the body of Christ. As a result, in many circles, we have lost the ‘wonder’ of our God who is so much bigger than we could ever conceive of in our finite minds. It is to those that I address these thoughts and welcome your feedback.

Isa 55:9-11 “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.

Jesus has given us, as believers the gifting to do the same things that He did when He was ministering while He was on earth. He further promises that He will impart to us the anointing to do all the things and even greater things that He himself did! This requires us to step out of the box of our control and into the supernatural!

Acts 4:30 Stretch out your hand to heal and perform miraculous signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus.”

John 1:50-51 Jesus said, “You believe because I told you I saw you under the fig tree. You shall see greater things than that.” He then added, “I tell you the truth, you shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.”

As believers, we must remember that the Bible is a living book, with the Blood of Jesus flowing through every page and as such it reveals to us both a Gospel of power and the power of the Gospel! The early church was well aware of that as evidenced in the book of Acts, and yet sadly, we now see reluctance, particularly in the west, for the Church to move in the power promised us.

Acts 2:42-47 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

1 Cor 2:4-5 My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith might not rest on men’s wisdom, but on God’s power.

My passion is to see His Kingdom come, on earth, as it is in heaven and I have discovered that things go so much better when I release my agenda and control and invite His! I have witnessed over and over miraculous signs and wonders such as gold appearing (dust, powder, fillings and caps) oil dripping from the palms of hands, spectacular healings, weather changes, feathers falling, angels appearing, and every time the result is that Jesus is glorified. People receiving the gold, or having oil ooze from their hands are dumbfounded by the presence of God; and they move into a much deeper place of humility and reverence for the Lord. Many receiving gold fillings and gold caps testify later that they became aware of the power of speech and were deeply convicted in the area of gossip and judgments of others. Signs and wonders must always point us to Jesus. I cannot with my finite mind, understand how these things happen, but that is when my faith kicks in.

John 14:12-13:  I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.

We need to be prepared that the Name of Jesus, the Presence of Jesus and the Works of Holy Spirit will cause controversy. Historically, every time Jesus showed up, He caused controversy with his teaching and the demonstrations of signs and wonders, healings and miracles. He was even accused of doing something “bad” by healing a man on the Sabbath. A religious spirit suffocates the move of Holy Spirit.

 Paul did miraculous works even to the point of anointing aprons and napkins to bring healing to those that touched them. As a believer, we can do the same things today. Most Christians don’t do it, because we have doubts, perhaps from having received little teaching of the power of the Blood of Jesus. But remember, Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. He is the same today as He was in the book of Acts. He is always relevant. One hundred years ago there were no surgical technologies available for people who had arthritic knees, hips or back – today surgical replacements are readily available. And Jesus is able not only to heal the joints but also to remove metal plates and metal rods from those suffering from years of immobility and pain. Believe it!

Church – it is time to encourage each other to walk in the anointing of signs, wonders, healings and miracles, and deliverance. You have the authority and the power of Christ in you to change the world we live in NOW!! Be blessed and empowered to go forth!

1 John 4:1-6 Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world. You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. They are from the world and therefore speak from the viewpoint of the world, and the world listens to them. We are from God, and whoever knows God listens to us; but whoever is not from God does not listen to us. This is how we recognize the Spirit of truth and the spirit of falsehood.
