'The Pursuit' in Medicine Hat!

Medicine Hat is a city with a population of 60,000 located in the south-eastern part of the province of Alberta, Canada and situated on the South Saskatchewan River. Its major claim to fame is Rudyard Kipling’s famous line “all hell for a basement” referring to the vast reserves of natural gas beneath it. It’s unusual name “Medicine Hat” is the English translation of ‘Saamis’ the Blackfoot word for the eagle tail feather headdress worn by Medicine Men. This particular ‘Medicine Hat’ finds its origins from Aboriginal legends about a battle long ago between the Blackfoot and the Cree Indian tribes in which a retreating “Medicine Man” lost his Headdress in the South Saskatchewan River.

The drive to Medicine Hat

I flew into Calgary and decided to drive from there into Medicine Hat (a short 2 ½ hour drive) to enjoy the prairie scenery. I was looking forward to teaching at the Pursuit Internship, a unique convergence of Impact World Tour, Global Prayer House and the Pursuit YWAM DTS. Director Antonio Baldovinos and his wife Christelle (Global House of Prayer) together with my long time friends and YWAM Leaders Rick and Judy Sorum, are pioneering an amazing combination of these ministries with the same vision of being a resource center of teaching and 24-7 House of Prayer.

As well as a full daytime curriculum, Tuesday evening meetings (dedicated to Worship and focused Prayer) and Thursday evening meetings are open to the community and people from all over Alberta and Saskatchewan come. I had the privilege of speaking as well at the Thursday community night, on the topic of “Intimacy with God”. Day time sessions were well attended and I taught on the Person and ministry of Holy Spirit. It was five wonderful days of dwelling in the presence of Holy Spirit. The Team will be heading off to the Philippines for a 2 month outreach after the completion of the teaching and equipping weeks.

The Pursuit Team

In October of 2010, the Pursuit Team will be hosting a Pursuit Conference in Medicine Hat and I would highly recommend attending. I believe this ministry will continue to expand and multiply in anointing and influence, impacting not only Canada but the Nations, for Jesus. Well done guys!

  1. Excerpt from letter from Antonio:

"Gord - God brings the right message at the right time for the right people. God used you this week in a powerful way to the right people. Thank you (and Jan) for being a part of this internship and this place and we hope you can come back!"
